I had a question about Chris’s approach to creating a HUD vs how Apple and other have used the skoverlay. I like Chris’s approach of “baking in” the HUD to the material on a node in the scene. What are the advantages to this verse the overlaySKScene used in Apple’s Fox demo?
More specifically is one approach better than the other where the HUD also contains user interaction with the 3D environment? Like a plus button to add another element to the scene or kind of joystick to drive a vehicle (intentionally choosing not to have it controlled by the accelerometer) I included a rough, and potentially confusing, illustration of how I understand the difference.
I just was curious what folks thought of the two approaches and if there is another option (could we build a HUD out of nodes and attach them to the camera?)
Cheers
