SwiftUI update (+ two little questions)

When will the book be updated to have SwiftUI as the UI framework instead of UIKit?

A lot of people (myself included) are starting to learn Swift development directly with SwiftUI, so I think an update to add SwiftUI alongside UIKit (or even replace it) it’s due.

Since I’m here, two short additional questions about the book:

  1. Any ETA on the async/await update?
  2. I have purchased the book singularly, will I still get the updates?

Thanks a lot, I’m absolutely loving this book!!

Hi @fpseverino and welcome to our community!

Perhaps you meant to post on another one of the sections, this is Server Side Swift with Vapor - unrelated to UIKit or SwiftUI (it’s more related to HTML than the other two).

Maybe take a look here:

The next version of the book will have a SwiftUI app in the iOS chapters though you should be able to follow any of the other SwiftUI tutorials on the site to port it over.

To answer your questions:

  1. We’re very close to landing the Sendable work, which unblocks the async/await update
  2. Assuming you’ve purchased the digital copy then yes you’ll get updates for free
