I’m concerned that raywenderlich is drifting away for SWIFT. That’s why I have been paying the annual sub, but I’m not sure that this is really the direction that the site is now going.
Is it still worth paying $200+ ?

Hi @jbambridge,
In my humble opinion I can tell you that the number of videos, articles and tutorials are all worth a lot more than that. In addition to that you have some of the best minds at RW that are senior developers, managers, business owners, academics, authors mainly many smart people. Having access to the resources like that is worth a lot more. It is up to you the subscribers to get value for your subscription.
You can ask questions on the forums, you can request for articles, there are polls on what article would you like to see next. The direction is determined by the feedback, so if you feel that you would like to see a steer from the current direction, then I invite you to provide feedback and detail what you would like to see. I am sure that it will be picked up by the team and definitely given consideration.
I thank you for being a subscriber and a continuing one,
Cheers,
Jayant
Greetings @jbambridge,
Here’s how I look at all of this: What is my time worth?
It should be no secret within these forums that I think Matthijs Hollemans - the original author of iOS Apprentice, walks on water. He has taught me so-o much about Swift coding that I could never begin to repay him. This easily acquired knowledge saved me hours upon hours of time spent to learn on my own. Assuming, of course, that I would ever learn as much within such a short period of time.
In addition to all of this, if I have a question on any subject covered within his iOS tome, I always get a swift response (pun intended) from his sidekick, Fahim Farook, whose in-depth responses leave no doubt he is an equally skilled Swift developer.
So, if my time is worth $20 / hour (or whatever), then I’m way ahead of the curve. If I divide my time into $200 that means that I paid for ten hours of knowledge that will last me for years. Swift and iOS change extremely rapidly and without all of the updated coding info presented on this forum, I would be lost in no time.
I am not a 24/7 coder. I have other interests, but I do like to stay tuned to the latest changes/updates in iOS and Swift. Without this website, that would not be possible.
And, speaking only for myself, years ago I recall spending nearly $70 for an iOS book that would be outdated within months. If I purchase one of Ray’s iOS ebooks, the updates are free. What’s not to like?
Add to this all of the other tutorials and ebooks that abound with this forum. If you’re a dedicated dev or just a newb, there is no way to lose by subscribing to all the coding goodness within this developer forum.
As to the “…drifting away from SWIFT.” comment that you mentioned, I have noted that as well. However, I get my complete fill of Swift and iOS and that is all I care about. As to the Android tutorials that I have seen, I think I would refer to those as simply growth features. I have not verified this, but there is probably much more Swift/iOS info on this website than there is Android info.
Speaking only for myself, without any question, the coding knowledge in this forum is the best deal on the net.
Best of luck to you.
Thanks! Truth matters.
