PetFinder API key

PetFinder now requires an Application Name and URL to get an API key. I don’t have either as I’m a beginnner. Is there a workaround?

Hello,
To access the Petfinder API, you’ll need to sign up for an API key on the Petfinder Developers website. While Petfinder requires an Application Name and URL, here are some potential workarounds for beginners: myAARPMedicare

Temporary Solution: Create a simple website using a free website builder like Wix or Google Sites, and use that URL for API registration purposes. You can always update the URL later.

Test Application: Consider creating a test application, like a simple pet finder web page, to demonstrate your project idea. This can serve as a placeholder for your Application Name and URL.

Contact Petfinder Support: Reach out to Petfinder’s support team directly and explain your situation. They might offer guidance or alternatives for beginners.

Alternative APIs: Explore other animal-related APIs that don’t require an Application Name and URL, such as:

Dog Pics API: Provides pictures of dogs based on the Stanford Dogs Dataset

Cat Facts API: Offers random cat facts

Random Dog API: Returns random pictures of dogs

RescueGroups API: Provides adoption information

Keep in mind that Petfinder’s API provides extensive data on adoptable pets, so it’s worth exploring their documentation and examples to understand its capabilities.
