Is it within the book’s license of “personal use” to be able to upload modified versions of the book’s projects to a public repository on GitHub? I’d like to use these works to showcase my expertise, coding style, and creativity to potential employers. Thank you!
I would not be able to speak from the legal perspective, however if you retain the copyright and acknowledge the original authors then you are covered for most of the portion.
I have had some users use code from my books and put them up on the app store as apps (with few modifications in graphics) which is ok and then there were some whose code was used and they did not like it.
Personally, I feel that if you are putting it on GitHub and acknowledge the original author’s work, it should be ok.
cheers,
Jayant
