How to Create a Neumorphic Design With SwiftUI.

Step 1). Open Xcode
Step 2). Close Xcode
Step 3). Sit down and evaluate why you are creating a Neumorphic App. Stop!!

In all seriousness, good tutorial. Terrible design (IMO)

Thanks! I guess? :grinning:

Good tutorial on how to modify components but yeah, “neumorphism” is a big no-no if you want your app to be accessible.

Could you expand on that? Is it because the gradients make it harder to differentiate components for some?

That’s one of the reasons, yes. It’s inaccessible in that people will sight issues may have trouble distinguishing the controls, increases cognitive load as subtle shadows are used instead of obvious-looking controls; and because subtle shadows are used to distinguish controls then it can lead to them being hard to decipher in certain light conditions.

So yeah, this isn’t a new Material Design. It’s designers getting excited over shadows and at the same time throwing out decades of research into design accessibility.

Thanks for the explanation!

NGL this looks pretty incredible. Wow. Great job man!

Thanks! I appreciate it

This isn’t a knock on this tutorial. It was good. It’s only a criticism of this design concept. Personally it looks godawful to be honest :grimacing: It’s like the worst of both worlds (skeuomorphism and flat design).

Yono, thanks for the inspiring work!
