Page 104 of Swiftui Apprentice (v.3) refers to extracting a subview by right clicking a VStack. As I understand it, the ability to do this has not been available in Xcode for quite a while.
Hi Les, Xcode 26 dropped it from the menu. This 3rd edition was published in Feb 2025, using Xcode 16. The July 2025 publication date is just for the pdf, when Kodeco resumed publishing e-versions. We hadn’t made any updates to the text.
This reddit thread suggests creating a new view and relying on some autocompletion.
