Books/video subscription

I am thinking, video courses will cover all topics covered in books. So I am thinking video subscription is better option for Raywenderlich site, rather than buying books. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

It depends on how you like to learn. The path I took was video then text.

I started out with Stanford’s iOS 9 free course on iTunes, watched the lectures, and read the required reading from Apple’s free iBook The Swift Programming Language. I learned a lot from the lectures, but there were so many unanswered questions that a 45 min lecture couldn’t possibly tackle so I turned to text for the answers.

So an option could be to start with the videos and when you get to a point where they are leaving you with unanswered questions, seek other videos (if that’s how you prefer to learn) or seek text.

@h1i2j3 Thanks Rebecca!

Hi @chakri, it definitely depends on your learning style. Videos are really helpful if you are a visual/auditory learner and you can always replay videos if something doesn’t stick the first time. Videos can also be more engaging versus reading from a book and overall it’s a great way to use multiple senses to grasp various concepts. I can say from personal experience that the RW videos are engaging, well made, and taught me some pretty cool stuff. Happy coding!

Gina
